At Mittagong Veterinary Hospital we have access to the services of local veterinarian, Dr Chris Watson, who has a special interest in surgery and extensive experience in orthopaedics/soft tissue surgery. In-house treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture via TPLO (for cranial cruciate rupture cases) and other orthopaedic/soft tissue services are also available. Having the extensive years of experience, and special interest, means Dr Watson is well equipped to undertake complex procedures locally.
To contact Dr Watson - follow the directions on his website. These surgeries are available in house at Mittagong Veterinary Hospital's fully equipped surgical facility. Bookings are arranged through Dr Watson's website and are performed locally at MVH.

Specialist veterinarians belonging to Specialised Centres are independent of our clinic and set their own fees. It's a good idea to ask them about costs when you call to make an appointment.
Our sense of responsibility doesn't end just because you've taken your pet to a specialist. If you find yourself faced with difficult decisions regarding the recommended treatment, please don't hesitate to call us. We'll be pleased to help you evaluate your options.
We’re happy to discuss and organise a specialist referral if required by your pet.
Our recommendations for out-of-area referral include:
In addition, specialist surgery, medicine, ultrasound and opthalmic specialists, who are based in Sydney, travel to the Southern Highlands, and can be seen through our hospital. They can perform procedures here to avoid travelling outside the Highlands. (Appointment times are variable and discussion needs to take place with Dr Keith.)
Complicated orthopaedic cases, such as spinal surgery, may need to be referred to a specialist orthopaedic surgeon or to our local highly experienced/special interest in orthopaedic GP surgeon, Dr Chris Watson. Dr Chris and Dr Keith will assess each case individually and provide the best advice for you and your pet.
